New Green Seal Product Line To Aid LEED
Certification Process
(Johnstown, NY) - 90% of your life is spent indoors,
breathing in air that is up to 500% more polluted than outdoor air.
The
U.S. Green
Building Council, an organization dedicated to maintaining safer
buildings for people and the environment, stands ready to change this
disturbing statistic. Spray Nine
Corporation, a cleaning product manufacturer located in the
foothills of NY's Adirondack Mountains, joined the Green Building
Council to help reduce cleaning’s effect on indoor pollution.
Elizabeth Bridge, Director of Strategic Development, explains:
"Building owners nationwide are realizing financial
benefits can be achieved by improving indoor air quality. Through its
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Program, the
Green Building Council offers a way to enjoy the financial benefits of
a green building with the added bonus of prestigious certification."
According to Bridge, the use of Green cleaning
products can earn up to a third of the points required for
LEED certification. She explains how Adirondack Green, Spray
Nine's line of
Green Seal (GS-37) cleaning products, offers advantages to
facilities using Green cleaners for
LEED certification:
"Each product carries on the Spray Nine tradition of
heavy-duty performance and economy. For example, many green cleaners
perform at dilutions ranging from 8:1 – 10:1. Our Adirondack Green®
All Purpose Cleaner, at a dilution of 16:1, matched a competitive
benchmark that uses twice as much product (8:1). This represents
savings on labor and chemical use."
The Adirondack Green line consists of three products,
each available in 4 x 1 gallon, 5 gallon and 55 gallon containers. The
products are:
All-Purpose Cleaner/Degreaser,
Multi-Surface Bathroom Cleaner, and
Glass Cleaner.
Benefits enjoyed by Green buildings with
LEED Certification include:
-
Productivity - Improving indoor air quality could help
U.S. businesses reclaim up to $58 billion in lost sick time and $180
billion in lost productivity (an average of 18 minutes per worker, per
day) each year.
-
Personnel Retention - One case study documents how a
financial services firm was able to lift employee retention rates in
its Green building by 50% over its traditional locations.
